Hooray! I don't believe, however, that 666 can be considered a lonely number, as it was mentioned at least once in a Megadeth song (I'm thinking of "a goat with 666 between its horns" [though not Karl Marx's goat, so I didn't sleep with it] from Go To Hell), and, having thus been put in the public eye (or ear) through the powerful medium of MUSIC, is sure to have made many friends throughout the civilized, Megadeth-infatuated world. That being said, I will quote (though, of course, I was not present for this quote [and am only doing it to correct DEATH's {who was there} negligence in quoting it]) a slice of pi discussion from DEATH's AHS math class, as related to me on one foggy day, the sort in which Moby Dick sleeps and all is well with the world...mainly because someone SHOT Herman Melville: Math teacher: "Pi is an infinite number...it never ends...it just goes on and on and on..." Student: "Kind of like you?"

yes, but are you a stealthy raptor? Stealth sucks. Overt-ness is better. And Gatorade is the BEST.

Yes, it's shamefully under-rated. So anyway, I did a survey last night that went pretty quickly but still took me 31.15 minutes.

This thread PWnZZZZZ.
And Duke DOES NOT.
And Master of Puppets is a mighty entertaining (and somewhat tiring!) song to play on guitar. Though it's counterpart "Disposeable Heroes" despite being one of the coolest songs of all time, is totally exasperating to play. REPEATED 16THS AT 200 BPM FOR 8 MINUTES....YAY! Though it's little triplet pattern riff is one of the coolest things since sliced bread. And the lyrics = pwn. A sample below.
"Bodies fill the fields I see, hungry heroes' end. No one to play soldier now, no one to pretend. Running blind through killing fields, bred to kill them all. Victim of what said should be, a servant till I fall.
Back to front! You will do what I say when I say! Back to the front! You will die when I say you must die! Back to front! You coward, you servant, you blind man!
Barking of machine gun fire does nothing to me now. Sounding of the clock that ticks, get used to it somehow. More a man, more stripes you wear, glory seeker's trends. Bodies fill the fields I see, the slaughter never ends."
Yes, antiwar indeed, but at least for the right reasons. And they're so violent! You'd just have to hear the song....heavy as the day is long. And one of the best solos Kirk Hammet ever put out, though surprisingly simple and easy to pick up with a good ear.
Sheldon, if I remember correctly, didn't you learn to drum Master of Puppets on your keyboard in order to accompany Hudson a few years back? I know you guys had "Call of Ktulu" down because I remember playing it with ya. But if you managed the song Master of Puppets in it's entirety on keyboard, I must say that that's pretty blasted impressive!

I think I had at least the first couple minutes down, from listening to the song over and over and over. On the subject of Metallica, I've begun downloading their old stuff onto my X-Box's hard drive, and, interestingly enough, both "Master of Puppets" and "Disposable Heroes" achieved the great honor of being copied into my "Teh Heaviestestestest..." playlist. Quite an act of forgiveness, following St. Anger's release...it's still taking me a while to get over that. But I think I've come to terms with it, and respect Metallica's tastes and personal decision.

lol. After re-watching ALL the Jump In The Studio videos and the movie "Some Kind of a Monster", I'm actually pretty confident about their next release. I think it might be really good. The reason being that number one, both Lars and James have said that they realize their 90s albums were a mistake and that they feel "at home" playing faster stuff. Number two, Lars himself told people on JITS before the album was released that "it was pretty f---ed up", and wasn't going to be either well recieved or have any radio worthy singles. Remember, before Megadeth had The System Has Failed, they had RISK. And I will say that I can tolerate St. Anger more than RISK. Dave Mustaine singing pop ballads = SUXXXXX Number three, I've got bootlegs of their the 2004 tour, and they're playing almost all of their old catalogue on tour, and they sound pretty good. I mean, I'm talking about songs like "Whiplash" and "Jump in the Fire" that they haven't played regularly in like 15 years. They'll play huge sets and do 2 or 3 encores, and play like 7 or 8 post-black album songs, usually 1 or 2 from St. Anger. But the rest is the older stuff. You can see their set lists from various nights on their website. The only thing bad I've noticed about them is James' voice has kinda lost it's angry edge in some songs, and there's a few songs that Kirk can't keep up with his stuff on. But they're also usually songs like "Helpless" or "Blitzkrieg" that they almost never play, and both of those are covers anyways. Mustaine is the same way, where he gets real sloppy at times, and he's way worse than Hammet when he is. But, he's also like 2 years older, and songs like "Devil's Island" are about a million times harder to do rhythm on (while singing) than either of those two Metallica songs. Part of it is that whoever sets up the tone for his guitar does a horrible job. He and his lead guitarist are always supposed to be on the same FX setup, with usually almost the same guitar. But Dave's lead tone sounds like crap, really abrasive and rough, no reverb or smoothness. And then you hear *pick any of the 3 guitarists since 2000* play a solo, and his tone sounds awesome. Basically, it sounds like Mustaine just takes his dry rhythm tone and doubles the volume for solos, instead of actually setting it up well, lol. But Mustaine sounded really good on the last studio album, so I'm sure Metallica should be able to sound pretty good as well, if not better than Megadeth. Metallica almost always has better studio mixes. But I remain convinced that Bob Rock is the root of all crappiness in the Metallica camp, and they need go back to Flemming Ramussen for the next album. Because every single album they've made with Bob Rock has been a subpar, and every one with the exception of St. Anger has been an attempt at crossing over into mainstream rock. The formula is simple. Bob Rock = good producer who became famous producing POP ROCK bands like Bon Jovi. Bob Rock + Metallica =/= a good return to form. Metallica needs to wake up, and if nothing else, look at their own message boards. The band themselves are ragged on over there more than anyone else. I daily see threads/polls like "Why I hate St. Anger", or "83-88 > 90-05", etc. trying to get the point across that the new stuff isn't well recieved. I mean, you have the sheep who worship anything Metallica puts out, but they honestly make up about 30% of the members. In thread after thread you will see people compain about the new stuff. The magazines like Rolling Stone and Spin, and Metal Edge are always going to give any Metallica album a good review because "Special interview with Metallica!" on the cover of their magazines help pay their bills. Metallica could release an album of one hour of static, and they would hail it as a brilliant artistic effort. But the fans don't work that way, and if anything, Metallica needs to listen to their own bootlegs and realize that nobody cheers after St. Anger songs. People cheer for songs like "Creeping Death" or "For Whom the Bell Tolls" or pretty much anything off of "Master of Puppets". Not any of their crap music. I will say this in conclusion. If nothing else, I do know that Metallica is a pretty funny group of guys, as evidenced by their JITS vids. They seem to have a pretty good sense of humor.
